In a social media post that has since been removed from Facebook, GOP Rep. Clay Higgins threatened to shoot armed protestors, saying, “I’d drop any 10 of you where you stand.”
To make matters worse, the post included a photo of Black men with guns.
If this shows up, we’ll consider the armed presence a real threat,” Higgins wrote in the post from his campaign account. “Have your affairs in order. Me? ….I wouldn’t even spill my beer. I’d drop any 10 of you where you stand.”
“We don’t care what color you are. We don’t care if you’re left or right. If you show up like this if we recognize threat….you won’t walk away,” Higgins, who is a former police officer, continued.
The post was shared on Tuesday, but Facebook later confirmed that it removed it for violating the platform’s “violence and incitement” policies.
After the removal, Higgins returned to announce that the post was removed against his will. “No, I did not remove my post. America is being manipulated into a new era of government control. Your liberty is threatened from within.”
Despite Higgins’ threats, Louisiana is an open-carry state. In fact, Higgins is a vocal advocate for gun rights, but oddly enough, his post came ahead of the BLM protest scheduled for Tuesday night, which was peaceful and without consequence.
