A Minnesota man has been arrested on murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed his wife and opened fire on his next-door neighbors.
Jason Michael Mesich, 48, is facing three-second degree murder charges for the fatal shooting of his wife, Angela Lynn, 47, and the critical injury of his neighbors, Makayla Saulter-Outlaw, 12, and her sister, Canisha Saulter, 29.
The incident occurred on Sunday night, just before 11 p.m. According to Fox News, Mesich told investigators that it all started after an argument over lack of sex.
Police say Mesich first shot Lynn in the neck and torso, before turning his gun on his neighbors, who were outside loading a moving truck at the time of the incident.
According to reports, Makayla was shot in the head, while Canisha was shot several times in the leg and hip. At the time of the shooting, Makayla was also holding Canisha’s 1-year-old daughter and used her body to protect the infant.
Makayla is now in critical condition. However, it is unclear if she will recover.
When officers arrived, the body of Angela Lynn was found in the detached garage, and Mesich was found in the basement firing off shots, screaming, and throwing things.
After a standoff with police, in which Mesich fired off 40 rounds, he was taken into custody, where he admitted to shooting his wife and injuring his neighbors, telling investigators, “he hated all children.”
