Prince Andrew will not be permitted to engage in his father Prince Philip’s birthday festivities over his alleged involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal for the “survival of the monarchy,” Prince Philip’s biographer, Nigel Cawthorne, has revealed.
Philip will turn 100 years old next year, and since Andrew’s “name is poison,” he will not be able to participate, says the author of “Prince Andrew, Epstein, and the Palace.” However, the decision to exclude his son has weighed heavily on Philip.
“The decision to cut down Prince Andrew’s role in the planned celebrations for his 100th birthday is one of the toughest decisions Prince Philip will have had to make in his life. But he knows that Andrew’s name is poison currently and that the survival of the monarchy requires that Buckingham Palace backs away from his son,” Cawthorne explained. “It will have been an enormous blow and will undoubtedly take some of the shine off the celebrations when they happen next year for Philip not to have Andrew by his side.”
Prince Andrew has been accused of having sex with Virginia Giuffre while she was a 17-year-old trafficking victim of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell in London, New York, and on Epstein’s private island. Giuffre says that she met the Prince at Tramp nightclub in London.
While Andrew has denied knowing her, a photograph of him with his arm around the teen’s waist was taken at Maxwell’s London townhome.
Andrew has also scaled back from the public eye in Britain after last year’s BBC TV interview, where he refused to say he regretted his friendship with Epstein, who was a convicted sex offender.
Andrew has vehemently denied all allegations, and his lawyers claim the FBI is treating him as a witness, not a suspect.
On the other hand, the author of “Prince Philip Revealed,” Ingrid Seward, disputed Andrew’s exclusion claim. In fact, he claimed that Philip is not even planning for his birthday currently.
“Do we really think they are organizing Prince Philip’s birthday celebrations now? He doesn’t value his birthday anyway. He hates fuss and will hate the idea of celebrating his birthday.”
The Royal Collection Trust would not confirm nor deny the claims.
“Plans for next year’s opening of the staterooms at Buckingham Palace are not yet confirmed,” A spokesperson said.
