Gabrielle Union Talks ‘America’s Got Talent’ Departure On Naomi Campbell’s ‘No Filter’

Gabrielle Union appeared on the most recent episode of Naomi Campbell’s No Filter web series on Tuesday, where she discussed her exit from America’s Got Talent and the investigation that resulted from her departure.

Union left America’s Got Talent last year amid allegations of a “toxic” and “racially insensitive” work environment, according to CNN. NBC opened an investigation into America’s Got Talent after a 5-hour long conversation with Union.

“When you walk into a space, and you recognize that change needs to happen sooner than later, to speak up,” the actress said.

“I’m confident that the wheels of change are turning faster, and we’ll reach an amicable agreement,” she continued. “I will never regret speaking up. Ever. Never ever.”

During the conversation, Union also acknowledged that Hollywood struggles with racism. When looking back at her career, she said she’s shocked by the “anti-blackness of it all,” calling the experience “jarring.”

“There’s a very narrow idea of what kind of black girl was acceptable and marketable,” Union said.
