Makeup mogul Jeffree Star is contemplating legal action against entertainment site, Insider for publishing a shocking story about his alleged sexual abuse, which Jeffree is calling “textbook defamation.”
Insider published the lengthy story, which is supposedly based on the accounts of several former associates of Jeffree. The sources detail physical and sexual abuse, claiming that he “sexually preyed on men around him through nonconsensual oral sex and groping.” One accuser even claims Jeffree threatened one man who rejected his advances with a stun gun. He is also accused of racist outbursts, which is not shocking given his prior racially insensitive comments.
A spokesperson for Jeffree shot down the article’s claims in a statement to The Blast.
“While Insider may believe that generating click-bait is more important than honest reporting, facts still matter. This so-called exposé is nothing but a defamatory collection of long-discredited allegations, misleading hearsay from more than a decade ago, and outright lies. Tellingly, all of the key individuals involved have refused to substantiate Insider’s bogus claims, while many, including Jeffree’s representatives, presented the reporter with a mountain of evidence proving that these allegations are false. She, regrettably and unethically, chose to ignore that evidence because it did not fit with her predetermined narrative.”
They went on to add, “Insider’s article is textbook defamation, rife with malice and demonstrating a reckless disregard for the truth, and, as a result, Jeffree is considering all of his legal options.”
The assault claims surfaced just hours after news began to circulate that Jeffree and his professional basketball player boyfriend, Andre Marhold, had separated after Marhold allegedly stole personal designer items belonging to Jeffree.
Jeffree addressed the messy breakup in an IG video, where he explained, “sometimes when you meet people, surprise, they aren’t who they say they are.”
He later added in the clip, “But I was presented a whole different person than who this man really was. That is fine. Y’all know out there, y’all have dated or hung out with some shady ass people. And yes, bitch, it happened to me. So about a week ago. Jeffree Lynn discovered a lot of things. This person secretly had no job, no money, not even a bank account, and this person is like 30 years plus. All these things I was told were false. And I was lied to. And I was like, “Okay, bye, sweetie.”
Jeffree addressed the stealing claims directly, saying, “It’s not about what it is. It’s about the principle. It’s just sad. Instead of answering the phone, this person was posting like they was still at my house. This shit was so weird. I just wanted my stuff back. I’m sure I’m never going to get it. I know I can go buy it tomorrow. I’m not about being around weird energy.”
Insider has not responded publicly to the possible lawsuit headed their way.
