Nelly’s lawyer says the rapper is not connected to the drugs and guns Tennessee troopers say they found on his tour bus over the weekend.
According to NBC News and People, a highway patrol officer pulled the bus over Saturday morning in Putnam County for allegedly missing a fuel tax sticker, then said he smelled marijuana. Troopers reported finding crystals that tested positive for methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and three handguns in a bag in the sleeping area. Nelly was charged with felony drug possession, simple marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession. He posted $10,000 bail and was released that evening.
Attorney Scott Rosenblum, speaking through Nelly’s publicist, said 15 to 20 people had access to the bus before it was stopped. He also said that only a small amount of MDMA, also known as Molly or Ecstasy, was allegedly found, which does not match the meth finding in the police account. “Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered,” Rosenblum said.
Nelly’s next court date is set for June 9.
