An 18 year old has been charged in the death of a 9 year old girl in Tifton, Georgia, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities say Alazia, known as Ally, was at her apartment complex in Tifton on Tuesday when she was stabbed to death. Her mother, Tegina, told WALB-TV that she found her daughter when she got home from work. “I just came home and found my baby,” she said.
Over the weekend, investigators arrested Semaj in Lowndes County. According to the GBI, he is charged with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. He is accused of the crime and has not been convicted. Authorities have shared few details about what led them to him or whether he knew the girl.
Tifton Police Chief Steve Hyman told WTXL that he understands the community is grieving and worried, and he asked anyone with information to come forward. He said more details would be released when possible.
Ally’s mother says she is hoping for answers soon and remembers her daughter as her only girl and her best friend.
