Personal hygiene manufacturer, Kimberly-Clark is recalling Cottonelle Flushable Wipes in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean because the products may contain bacteria – Pluralibacter gergoviae, a household microorganism that can cause infections.
Cottonelle Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle GentlePlus Flushable Wipes manufactured between February 7, 2020 and September 14, 2020 is on the list of recalled products, according to the company website.
“Individuals who have weakened immune system, suffer from serious pre-existing conditions, have been treated surgically, or belong to another sensitive group of persons are at particular risk of infection,” the company said in a statement.
Customers can identify if a product they have is affected by looking for the specific lot number on the bottom of the package and checking it on the companies website.
“At this time there is a low rate of non-serious complaints, such as irritation and minor infections,” the company stated.
