Forever First Lady Michelle Obama is teaming up with the newly crowned NBA Champion LeBron James to help encourage safe and early voting.
On Tuesday, Obama’s When We All Vote announced a partnership with Bron’s More Than A Vote organization to host a weeks-long early voting event called When We All Vote Together.
From October 18-October 31st, the voting groups will work together to help “build momentum and excitement around voting early,” according to a release. The organizations will “provide information, transportation, food, music, personal protective equipment, and voter protection support to Americans near early voting sites,” across the country.
In addition, as part of the When We All Vote Together Early Vote Weeks of Action event, Obama’s bipartisan group will contribute over $1 million in grants and supplies to local organizations to host their own early voting events around the country.
To further the push for safe and early voting, Obama will launch the #VotingSquadChallenge, alongside her When We All Vote Co-Chairs, as well as her final #CouchParty, to celebrate the participants.
“Millions of Americans have already cast their ballots, and with only 21 days until Election Day, making your plans to vote early is critical. It’s now up to us to do everything in our power to get our friends and family ready to vote early and safely together,” Obama said. “We can’t leave anyone behind. I’m proud of the work When We All Vote will do with More Than A Vote and our partners to help provide on-the-ground support for Americans who will cast their ballots early.”
Both When We All Vote and More Than A vote has been committed to recruiting poll workers to ensure safe, open, and adequately staffed polling locations.
