Grammy Award-Winning Singer Christopher Cross Paralyzed After Contracting Coronavirus

Grammy Award-winning singer Christopher Cross sat down with “CBS Sunday Morning” and discussed his near death COVID 19 experience. Back in April the 69 year old musician, best known for his hit song “Sailing ” announced that he and his girlfriend contracted the Coronavirus following their trip to Mexico City.

All of their shared symptoms lasted for about three weeks. Cross was sent to the Intensive Care Unit after he collapsed in his home and later was diagnosed with a rare nervous system disease known as Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

“It was a come-to-Jesus moment, I was looking for any help I could get to get out of this thing, because I wasn’t sure,” Cross told CBS. Cross is currently recovering, physically and mentally following his paralysis and now requires a wheelchair or cane for mobility. “Not being able to walk or move was the worst 10 days of my life and certainly the darkest of times for me,” Cross stated.

He then went on to explain that his walking, speech, memory and nerves have all been affected as a result of contracting COVID 19. Despite his hardship and health complications, the Grammy Award-winner felt it was vital to educate others by sharing his story.

“I’m not a big celebrity, but it’s important for people to know you can get this disease. I felt it was sort of my obligation to share with people.” Cross then went on to say, “Look, this is a big deal. you’ve got to wear your mask. You’ve got to take care of each other. Because, you know, this could happen to you.”
