Regina King is auctioning her 2020 Emmy Awards dress by Schiaparelli. The charity fundraiser is hosted by Christie’s auction house. The proceeds raised will be donated to The Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance. The Non-profits’ mission is to empower adolescent girls around the world through education.
In preparation for the Emmy’s, King worked with Maison Schiaparelli’s artistic director Daniel Roseberry. “Working with Schiaparelli has been very gratifying. They are a historic brand that represents class and a positive work ethic.” King said.
The first look was an electric blue gown. It took 270 hours to construct. The dress has 12 meters of silk and 250 multi-colored jewels. King was spotted in her second look, accepting the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role on HBO Max series, Watchmen.
The pink wool suit was styled with a Breonna Taylor T-Shirt. “ It is an honor to have dressed Regina King for the 72nd Emmy. It was such a rare moment. I’m proud to support the Girls Opportunity Alliance,” Roseberry said.
King and Roseberry have included complimentary alteration service and autographed sketches of the original looks for the auction winners.
The Online auction is currently active until October 30.
