Another one…a Scottsdale man is under fire for calling himself a racist while confronting two Black men on video this past Friday morning.
Records show that Paul Ng was arrested over the weekend for disorderly conduct charges after a video of the incident went viral.
25-year-old YouTuber Dre Abram said, “It’s just so hard to kind of go back and replay.”
Abram and his roommate were out recording for their podcast when Ng approached them on the sidewalk outside his condo.
In the video, you can hear Ng say, “I’m a racist” and “this is a no n—- zone.”
The YouTuber said, “it’s a numbing feeling.” He added, “Someone is seriously doing this to me right now? And at that point, it’s, ‘Be smart, be smart.'”
Over the weekend, Abram posted the video to his social media channels. As of Monday, his Instagram had almost 182,000 views and it had gone viral on many other accounts.
“This isn’t OK,” Abram says. “This isn’t allowed anymore.”
In the first video, Abram said that he thought Ng was employed with River Trading Post because they were standing outside the shop. But the owner, Kathi Ouellet confirmed that Ng only lived above in the condos. The YouTuber has since reposted that he’s aware that Ng has no connection to River Trading Post.
River Trading Post owner said, “We’re collateral damage.” Ouellet said that they have received death threats and negative reviews since the viral video. She said, “as far as I’m concerned, it was off the charts wrong.” She added, “frankly, I found this really shocking. I didn’t expect this from him.”
Ng told 12 news off-camera on Monday that he shouldn’t have said what he did.
When the YouTuber first started recording, you can hear Ng tell Abram, “We’ve had trouble around here.” Abram responds with, “Do you know a lot of white men are doing racist things in this world, sir?”
According to police records, Ng told police that he was concerned about the safety of his family. He told them that he “keeps an eye on the neighborhood” and said the incident with Dre was “unusual.”
An officer asked Ng if he was aware of how his comments could be provoking and insulting. Ng responded by asking the officer if he thought the statement was “inflammatory.” He told police that he didn’t mean to be inflammatory.
The report also goes on to say that Ng said what he did because Dre “inflamed” him when he insinuated that Scottsdale was full of ‘white racists.'”
Paul Ng, has recently lost his job at Russ Lyon Sotheby’s Real Estate Agency in Scottsdale.
The agency released a statement that read:
“On Sunday we learned of an extremely hateful and racist video that was posted to social media showing one of our inactive Independent Contractors, Paul Ng, demonstrating abhorrent, unacceptable behavior. Upon learning of this video we took immediate action in severing his license, terminating his involvement with us effective immediately and condemning his disgusting behavior.”
The agency has also reported Ng to the Arizona Department of Real Estate and they recommended his license be revoked.
“I want him prosecuted to the furthest extent,” Abram says. “I feel like this is a huge example.”
