On Tuesday, Oklahoma City Thunder star Chris Paul did his part for the upcoming presidential election by leading a march of 2,500 people to a North Carolina voting poll.
According to ABC News, Paul and the massive group of voters marched to the early voting site located at the historically Black college campus, Winston-Salem State University—where Paul currently takes classes.
The march was part of the “March to the Polls part 2” initiative, and gave Paul a chance to keep his promise of encouraging HBCU students to take part in the upcoming election by voting.
The NBA player spoke on the importance of students voting, telling reporters, “given the magnitude of the election and everything that is going on right now.”
The university’s student government association President Je’den Clark also spoke to the press, saying Paul’s appearance resulted in a large turn out.
“College students think about making inroads,” Clark said. “Voting is important. We are instructed since our freshman years to use our voices.”
