A British student was caught breaking quarantine after an Instagram photo showed her having dinner out and now she has agreed to pay over $8,500 to avoid going to jail.
According to contact tracers, 22-year-old Cary Ann Ingram was near an infected traveler on her flight from Manchester and she was supposed to self-isolate at her family home in Jersey.
Instead, she went shopping and went to a restaurant on the island in the English Channel and she was easily found out after posting photos to Instagram while having fun.
The reports said that Ingram pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching self-isolation and opted to pay the fine rather than spend six months’ jail.
Carolina Maffia, from the contact tracing team, told the Metro UK paper, “It is regrettable that someone should endanger the health of other Islanders after being informed of the need to self-isolate.”
