A South Florida youth track coach is facing additional charges after two more people accused him of abuse, according to an arrest report.
WSVN reported that Darius, 45, head coach of the Miami Gardens Xpress Track and Field club, was arrested earlier in the week on two counts of child molestation and three counts of sexual battery on a minor. After the two new accusations, he now faces two more counts of child molestation and one more count of sexual battery on a minor.
The arrest report states that one of the new accusers, who was 15, told police about the alleged abuse. A second accuser described alleged abuse from when she was younger. WSVN reported that some of the new allegations date back to 2012.
The first charges came after two sisters, who were both members of his track club, made accusations against him. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by WPLG, one sister, now 24, came forward after learning about the allegations involving her younger sister. The affidavit says she waited because the coach was well liked in the community.
The track club posted a statement on social media saying it was aware of the allegations, had no further comment, and asked for prayers for the families, athletes and coaches. No response from Darius or his attorney was reported. The charges are allegations, and he has not been convicted. His next court appearance was scheduled for Thursday.
