A Louisville high school student newspaper has unveiled violent quotes that have been used by Kentucky State Police to train their young officers. The two leaders behind these quotes are none other than Robert E. Lee and Adolf Hitler, both notoriously known for being “racist” and “violent.”

On one of the training slides, titled “Violence of Action,” officers are instructed to “ruthless killer[s],” like Lee, and encourage cops to have “a mindset void of emotion” and to “meet violence with greater violence,” like Hitler.

Another slide read, “The very first essential for success is a perpetually constant and regular employment of violence.” That is from Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” manifesto, according to TMZ.

A spokesperson for the Dept. informed reports that the slides were taken down in 2013.

“Our administration does not condone the use of this material,” the spokesperson said.

The revealing of the quotes comes months after the death of Breonna Taylor. Taylor was just 26-years-old when she was fatally shot in her Louisville, Kentucky apartment on March 13 by local police.

Reports stated that the Louisville Metro Police Department used a no-knock warrant to enter Taylor’s apartment after an investigation into drug dealing operations. After believing that intruders had entered their home, Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired a warning shot at them. The officers returned 32 shots, 6 of which hit and killed Taylor.

The shooting of Taylor by police led to multiple protests around the world in a fight against social injustice and police brutality.

After conducting an investigation, the three officers involved in the death of Taylor were arrested. After the trial, two officers were let go, and one, Brett Hankison, was charged with three counts of Wanton endangerment for “reckless shooting.”
