Justin Bieber opens up about being suicidal and urges others to know when to get to help.

Bieber, 26, has open about been dealing with mental health issues for some time. In a new YouTube series called “Next Chapter,” the singer comes to the very platform that made him famous to share his mental health journey with fans and supporters, Fox News reports.

The singer first shares his early beginnings as a fresh artist, highlighting how he was bullied over his image. “There were so many people that were just so mean. Random people saying like, ‘You suck! You look like a girl!’” Bieber said. “I would shake it off like it didn’t bother me but that stuff bothered me and it affected how I acted and how I treated people.”

He said the stress got so bad that he considered taking his own life.  “There was times where I was really, really suicidal.” He added that he would often think: “Is there pain ever going to go away? It was so consistent, the pain was so consistent.”

“I was just suffering, right? So, I’m just like, man, I would rather not feel this than feel this,” said Bieber. Fighting demons alone is the circumstance for many people who struggle with mental health, Bieber says he wants to change that narrative. “I just would encourage people, like, ‘Hey, if you’re feeling lonely, talk about it. Say it out loud.’” He added: “There’s a freedom in that. I could have avoided a lot of pain.”

The documentary encompasses how the singer has spent the past eight months, his music, working on his marriage with his wife and more.
