Australia has officially broken the country record. Zero cases of the Covid-19 have been reported since June 9th. The countries’ scientists are on the verge of securing an mRNA vaccine. If Approved they plan to distribute 51 million doses of The University of Queensland’s vaccine and 33.8 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca’s vaccine.”
“The trial results have been more positive than we expected. We are on track for internal borders to be lifted by Christmas. If it is a medical decision the very low case numbers will provide the strongest possible basis for moving to the next step,” Health Minister Greg Hunt said.
Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk recently announced Tuesday as the reopening date for the state’s border to all of NSW and the greater Sydney area starting. Despite the continuously low cases in NSW & Victoria, the decision comes with mixed feelings from political figures and business owners.
“Opening up would be ridiculous,” Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said.
“The hard border will be removed on November 14, however, travelers from NSW and Victoria will be required to quarantine for two weeks,” West Australia Premier Mark McGowan said.
Hunt also discussed Australia’s rollout plans for the COVID-19 vaccine on Sunday.”We expect the first doses to be available by March 2021. Priority will be given to health workers and the elderly. We would like to see everyone who seeks to be vaccinated, on what would be a voluntary program, completed during the course of 2021 [and] the middle of the year seeing the vast bulk of the population given that access,” Hunt said
Prime Minister Scott Morrison will present the final rollout plans to the cabinet.
