Kylie Jenner is being criticized for promoting her makeup restock for Kylie cosmetics on election night.
The photo featuring Kendall Jenner was captioned: “happy birthday sister – the Kendall Collection restocks tomorrow at 9am pst for the LAST TIME including signed PR kits! only on KylieCosmetics.com”
Observers said that it was inappropriate for Jenner to promote makeup on election night.
“I mean, I’m sorry but I don’t really care. The country is in a pandemic and the state of our leadership is being decided at this very moment. I usually care more but this seems super self absorbed. The constant flaunt of privilege makes me nauseous,” a person wrote underneath the photo.
“Not her trying to make money while the rest of the country (and quite frankly the world) is in a panic because we’re in the middle of one of the biggest modern day presidential elections,” another quipped.
“It is *so* not the time for this like??? It must be nice not to be terrified for your rights. Read the room, now is not the time for this. Even from a marketing perspective it’s bad and from a human perspective it’s even worse,” a commenter declared.
In September, Jenner used her platform to encourage her 100 million-plus followers to register to vote. According to Fox News, the link that Jenner shared on Instagram for the voter’s registration caused an 80 percent increase with Vote.org’s registration verification tool.
Jenner has not endorsed a candidate publicly although her brother-in-law, Kanye West, ran for president.
