An Illinois teaching assistant has been given a slap on the wrist after confessing to sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy with learning challenges.
According to court docs, Allyssa Gustafson sexually assaulted the 14-year-old victim on at least five occasions. The abuse took place between March 1st, 2019, and August 30th, 2019, while the teen was enrolled at Circle Academy in Urbana. The school offers alternatives to children who face challenges in traditional schools. Gustafson used Facebook Messenger and Snapchat to send the boy photos of herself wearing swimsuits and lingerie. She was even bold enough to accompany the teen to his home with his mother present. The mother saw Gustafson at her home but thought that she was a fellow student. Once she learned that the woman was 24-years-old, she contacted the police.
The child rapist plead guilty in September to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Judge Roger Webber sentenced her to four years of probation and ordered her to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
“I made a terrible error in judgment, and this has hurt a lot of people,” Gustafson said during sentencing “I am sorry for the pain I have caused so many people.”
