This is how you go up the ladder. Atlanta-rapper Jeezy has not only signed a new deal with the legendary record label, but he has now earned a spot on the label’s advisory board as senior advisor to the interim chairman and CEO Jeff Harleston.
Jeezy has been busy keeping his legacy going. His recent announcement of his 10th album “The Recession 2” and his new talk show “Worth a Conversation” with Fox Soul has given the Hip Hop culture what it needs.
His new deal adds to his progression in the right direction.
“It’s an honor to return to the label I’ve called home for 15 years, not only as an artist but as an executive,” Jeezy tells Billboard. “I spent most of my career learning from trial and error. I am happy to say that I am back on the team that helped me build my legacy from the streets to the boardroom and nothing makes me more fulfilled than being in a position to help guide and add value to the next generation.”
Harleston also praised the rapper and Def Jam’s decision. “Jeezy is so meaningful to Def Jam; its legacy, its past, present and future. Jeezy has always impressed me with his talent, his tenacity, his instincts, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his leadership. I’m a huge believer in trusting, supporting, and enfranchising artists and bringing them into the process. But of course, Jeezy is so much more than an artist. He is family.”
Next Thursday, Jeezy will take on native rapper T.I. in the highly anticipated battle set to take place on the latest installment of Verzuz, Billboard reports. The two will battle it out at 8 PM (EST). Make sure to tune in on Verzuz TV on Instagram and Apple Music.
Jeezy will surely put on for his city!
