“Waiting to Exhale” is going to become a TV series.
From Terry McMillan’s 1992 New York Times bestselling novel to the hit 1995 film starring Angela Bassett, Whitney Houston, Loretta Devine, and Lela Rochon, comes a new series based on the classic tale.
“So, WAITING TO EXHALE is going to be a TV series,” Terry McMillan wrote on Twitter, Essence reports. The film was directed by Forrest Whitaker and was known for its heartwarming characters who shared a sisterhood filled with stories of love blues, heartache, friendship, family issues, and more. It was known for showing the beauty of Black women and our journeys, and it had a bomb soundtrack as well, which was produced by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.
The series will be produced by Lee Daniels, and Attica Locke and Tembi Locke are set to be writers. Anthony Hemingway has signed on as director. The Locke sisters are known for their work from Little Fires Everywhere, and Hemingway directorial work can be seen in the hit show Underground.
