The offseason has been tough for Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel. After going through a series of problems on and off the field throughout the past year, he finally decided to enter rehab back in January. Now, after two months of treatment and therapy, sources are saying that Manziel will be ready to leave rehab and return to the NFL within the next few weeks, just in time for the team’s offseason workouts. The team workouts are set to begin on April 20th and if Manziel can make a complete recovery by then, he will be able to fully participate in all of the offseason activities and prepare for the 2015 season alongside his teammates.
Manziel had willingly checked himself into rehab after the last season ended, realizing that there were things about him that he wanted to change. “Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate, and he thought the offseason was the right time to take this step,” his advisor Brad Beckworth stated. With all the trouble he constantly found himself in during his rookie year, rehab was definitely the right move for him and his career.
The Browns have been supportive of Manziel throughout this whole process and are eager to have him back on the team. Coach Mike Pettine, who has visited Manziel a few times in rehab, is confident that he will be a better player when he returns. With the Browns being one of the top candidates to be featured on this year’s Hard Knocks, the return of Johnny Manziel would certainly be an interesting storyline to promote the show and draw an audience.
