Ivanka Trump’s former best friend claims she shares her father’s obsession with money and praise – and his apparent disdain for poor people – claiming she’s been that way from a young age.
According to the essay in Vanity Fair, Ivanka’s former bestie Lysandra Ohrstrom claims Donald’s daughter was obsessed with her status and used to blame classmates for any trouble she got into when she was in school.
Ohrstrom, who was Ivanka’s maid of honor, wrote the scathing essay exposing Ivanka, saying, “She had the Trump radar for status, money, and power, and her dad’s instinct to throw others under the bus to save herself,” she alleged.
Ohrstrom recalled a time she recommended a Pulitzer Prize winning novel to her friend to read and claims Ivanka got upset at the book choice due to its subject matter. The book by Richard Russo was about working-class characters from a small town in Maine.
Ohrstrom claims Ivanka became annoyed with her for telling her to read a book about poor people.
“‘Ly, why would you tell me to read a book about f**king poor people?’ I remember Ivanka saying,” she wrote. “‘What part of you thinks I would be interested in this?’
Ohrstrom claims she wrote the essay to show the world the true Ivanka, despite the risk of being branded a hypocritical, privileged elitist who is now looking to capitalize on her connection to the soon to be former first family.
“Although friends and family have warned that this article won’t be received the way I want, I think it’s past time that one of the many critics from Ivanka’s childhood comes forward – if only to ensure that she really will never recover from the decision to tie her fate to her father’s.”
Ohrstrom also claimed that even though she was close to his daughter, Donald Trump could never remember her name but always had a comment about her fluctuating weight.
She explained an incident at Mar-a-Lago, where a young Ivanka scolded her brother Donald Jr for taking Ohrstrom’s grilled cheese sandwich, saying Donald Trump chimed in telling the children: “Don’t worry. She doesn’t need it. He’s doing her a favor.”
