Coronavirus vaccine developer, AstraZeneca, was targeted by hackers. The suspected North Korean hackers posed as job recruiters on LinkedIn and Whatsapp, sending documents filled with malicious codes.
The University of Oxford works in conjunction with AstraZeneca. The University told CNN in a statement that they’re working with UK National Security Centre for protection against cyber threats.
“Oxford University is working closely with the National Cyber Security Centre to ensure our COVID-19 research has the best possible cybersecurity and protection,” a spokesperson for Oxford University said to CNN.
The National Cyber Security Centre said that they’re committed to protecting the vaccine makers.
“… committed to protecting our most critical assets, the health sector, and crucial vaccine research and development against threats,” said NCSC.
Lawmaker Ha Tae-Keung said to CNN that North Korea attempted to hack South Korean pharmaceutical companies that are developing vaccines for the coronavirus.
