Chadwick Boseman would have turned 44 this weekend, and to honor the late star, Disney re-worked the opening credits of Black Panther to celebrate his birthday.
“Disney Honcho” Bob Iger hinted at a possible homage to “someone that was and will always be near and dear to our hearts” in a tweet on Saturday but did not mention Boseman’s name.
On Sunday, Marvel confirmed the tribute, the same day the new credits launched — “Long live the King. #WakandaForever,” the Twitter caption read attached to a clip of what viewers would soon see.
As the Marvel logo appears and fades, as it does in all Marvel movies, the BP logo is soon after. “Only now,” TMZ writes, “when you watch ‘BP,’ you’ll see Chadwick’s face all over it.”
TMZ noted, “There are photos and footage of Chadwick also embedded into the Marvel logo artwork, both from the film and in real life.”
A few months ago, many mourned the loss of Chadwick Boseman after he died of colon cancer, a battle he fought in silence.
