The Justice Department is investigating a potential “bribery-for-pardon” scheme in the White House.
According to court records that were unsealed Tuesday, the DOJ is looking into a scheme where money was funneled into the White House or a political committee in exchange for a pardon from Donald Trump.
The documents don’t name anyone specifically or give a timeline of the scheme. Still, it says that communication between a lawyer was seized in an office raided over the summer.
This comes as several of Trump’s top advisors have been convicted of federal crimes.
It was just reported that his lawyer Rudy Giuliani asked for a pardon, which he denies.
Trump has already pardoned those who remained loyal to him, including Michael Flynn and Roger Stone.
