New Apple Watch Bands Will Include Two Cameras On The Strap

A new line of Apple Watch bands will now come equipped with two cameras.

After nearly four years in development, the Wristcam is complete and ready to be shipped out to customers who supported the original crowdfunding campaign for the effort. The straps 8-megapixel camera can shoot 1080p video and take stills in 4K resolution. The 2-megapixel camera will be primarily used for selfies. Wristcam will also feature a video walkie-talkie function with real-time live-streaming. Recordings can be stored and saved to broadcast later in the event that the Apple Watch doesn’t have an active LTE or Wi-Fi connection. The band, which retails at $299,  is also fairly lightweight, weighing just 23 g (0.8 oz).

While Wristcam is not manufactured by Apple, it has been given an Apple-certified seal of approval as a Made for Apple Watch accessory, according to The Verge.

“Living with Wristcam feels a bit like having superpowers. The phone isn’t always within reach, and it’s nice to have a camera handy when going out with friends, or going on a run, ride, or hike with just an Apple Watch,” says Ari Roisman, CEO and co-founder of Wristcam.

Photos and videos can be snapped with just a press of a button on the innovative Apple Watch bands and will sync automatically to your iPhone when placed on its magnetically attached charging cable.

The bands will begin shipping in March 2021, with pre-orders available now. Color options include Noir, Blanc, Gray, Rosé, and Sage.
