LeBron James’ commitment to social activism earned him Muhammad Ali Legacy Award.
The award celebrates individuals who are dedicated to sportsmanship and impact the world.
James used his platform to speak out about police brutality, voting, and inequality. James also helped to lead his team to a championship.
James spoke about the initiative, ‘More Than A Vote.’
“This all came together during the protests against police brutality,” James said. “All of us were angry, which we still are, and wanted to do something with real impact right now. We didn’t want to talk about it. We organized around voter suppression in our community because it’s very real, and if we want actual change, it’s going to start by educating, energizing and protecting Black voters in 2020.”
Breanna Stewart, Patrick Mahomes, Naomi Osaka, and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif are all set to receive rewards.
