COVID Data From Thanksgiving Isn’t Available Yet

Dr. Anthony Fauci said the data from Thanksgiving isn’t available yet but expects COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations to rise. Dr. Fauci, who warned against Thanksgiving gatherings, says the “blip from Thanksgiving isn’t even here yet.”

“So we’re getting those staggering numbers of new cases and hospitalizations before we even feel the full brunt of the Thanksgiving holiday,” Fauci said.

Experts say “behavior and cold weather” account for the number of COVID cases.

“People are going indoors, they’re not minding the three W’s.” Alex Azar, Health and Human Services secretary, said to Fox News.

The United States averages 200,000 COVID cases a day. According to John Hopkins University, there were 196,233 cases over the past week. Dr. Fauci said it takes two and a half weeks for a person to test positive for the virus.

“The problem is, that’s going to come right up to the beginning of the Christmas, Hanukkah potential surge,” Fauci said. “For the first time in more than 30 years, I’m not spending the Christmas holidays with my daughters.”

Most of the COVID deaths come from elderly people in long-term care facilities – about 40% to 50%. By March, over 100,000 people will be vaccinated, according to CNN.

“The vaccine’s highly effective. The vaccine is safe. Its safety profile is comparable to that of many other vaccines that have been in use for years and decades. The manufacturing of these vaccines is very well done. The quality of manufacturing is excellent,” said Moncef Slaoui, scientific adviser of Operation Warp Speed.

Dr. Fauci says that the vaccine won’t have an immediate effect on mortality rates because it requires two doses.

“Likely, you’re not going to see a measurable diminution for at least several weeks, if not longer,” Fauci said..” But it will come, I’ll guarantee you.”
