An Oregon nurse just lost her job after she gloated on TikTiok about how she breaks Covid-19 rules.
“You about to lose yo job” lives rent-free in our heads, mainly because people continue to lose their jobs after going viral on social media for good and bad reasons – mostly bad. In this case, it’s a bad reason.
In a video that was posted on the popular new app on November 27, Ashley Grames can be seen wearing scrubs and a stethoscope around her neck, pretending to scream with a caption that reads, “When my coworkers find out I still travel, don’t wear a mask when I am out, and let my kids have playdates.” Soon after, Grames was put on administrative leave, and the video was taken down, but it is still finding it is way through the app and online after multiple shares, CNN reports.
Grames was an oncology nurse at Salem Health in Oregon. The hospital sent out a statement saying that the woman “is no longer employed with Salem Health.” The statement from the hospital where the former nurse worked wrote that the video “displayed cavalier disregard for the seriousness of this pandemic and her indifference towards physical distancing and masking outside of work.”
But there are no details on whether the nurse quit or if she was fired. “We do not publicly discuss personnel decisions,” a hospital spokesperson said via CNN. In a Facebook post, Grames claimed that she was not terminated by the hospital. “I would like to set the record straight, I was not terminated; I took a leave of absence,” Grames wrote. She added that she is “focusing on the next chapter” of her life — “going back to school.”
