George Floyd, Coronavirus, WAP And More Are Some Of The Things We Googled The Most In 2020

What did the world Google the most this year? WAP, Timothée Chalamet, and “social distancing date ideas” are some, to name a few.

It’s been a crazy year, and Google has been keeping track of it – plus what we search. Google has released its “Year in Search,” and this year’s list includes the top trending searches, which had a spike in traffic for some time in 2020 compared to last year, CNN reports.

The word “why” was one of the many words seen this year. Example: “why is the NBA postponed?” and “why is toilet paper sold out?” “Election results” and “coronavirus” were trended the most. Other items that made the top 10 list include Zoom, Naya Rivera, Chadwick Boseman, and PlayStation 5.

Google’s “news” category includes searches about stimulus checks, along with Hurricane Laura, Australia fires. The list also includes the people we lost this year, such as Kobe Bryant, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Eddie Van Halen. It also mentions George Floyd, whose murder erupted emotions in people around, prompting protests against police brutality and racism globally.

As for the events that made 2020 the year we will never forget, some included on the list are the U.S. crackdown on TikTok, Elon Musk’s baby, Juneteenth becoming a holiday, and “Parasite” making history as the first non-English movie to win an Oscar for Best Picture.

What were some of your best moments from 2020?
