Clorox Wipes Will Return to Shelves In Middle Of 2021

The Clorox Company doesn’t see their wipes returning to the stores until the middle of 2021.

According to CBS News, the company distributes close to a million packages across the nation every day. And although they highly anticipate to make 50% to 1.5 million of wipes by February, the wipes still won’t make the shelves until next year.

The demand for wipes skyrocketed 500% since the novel virus started back in March.

“As soon as they’re on [the] shelf, people scoop them up,” a Clorox spokesperson wrote to CBS MoneyWatch. “This is not surprising given the continued worsening trends of COVID-19.”

Wipes were seen as a necessity when COVID-19 came, along with paper towels and toilet paper—which have returned, but wipes have not.

“People are suffering, COVID is surging, but everything we know right now — we probably won’t be back in the type of in-stock positions, or you know, what people are used to going to the store, until mid-2021,” Clorox Chief Operating Officer Eric Reynolds told NBC Nightly News on Thursday.

Clorox has manufacturing operations working non-stop and hope to launch wipes that are twice the size. The company has also opened up 10 new operation facilities to meet the new demand.

It was in August Clorox told the public not to expect wipes in stores for the rest of 2020, blaming a lack of materials needed to make the wipes.

“We’re also focusing on products that can be made faster and on efforts to expedite products to retailers,” the Clorox spokesperson said on Friday.
