The world nearly went up in smoke last night when rumors that the 49ers were considering trading QB Colin Kaepernick hit the web.
SportsTalk 790 correspondent, Jayson Braddock, was among the first to report that the Niners were looking to deal Kaepernick, with prospective teams being the Chicago Bears or the Philadelphia Eagles. Niners GM Trent Baalke says that’s not true.
In a statement released to CSNBayArea.com Baalke says, “Colin is our quarterback and we are excited to have him. He is not going anywhere. The media reports suggesting otherwise are without merit and, quite frankly, ridiculous.”
Considering Kaep just signed a contract extension this past summer, I don’t see the 49ers giving him up. Then again, the NFL is known to make crazy decisions.
