If you’re an Indiana Jones fan, your in for a treat. Disney’s production company Lucasfilm will be releasing the fifth movie in July 2022, and none other than Harrison Ford will play the iconic figure for the fifth time.
According to ABC 13, Ford will be featured with his hat and whip for a fifth version of the movie, which comes 41 years after the first movie’s release, “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
“Indy himself, Harrison Ford, will be back to continue his iconic character’s journey,” Disney announced in a tweet on Friday, adding that the movie was in pre-production.”
Earlier this year, Ford sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on the Ellen Show and told the host production on a new movie would start in 2020.
“It’s going to be fun. I am excited,” he said on the show. “They’re great fun to make.”
The last Indiana Jones movie was 2008, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Prior to that, the first movie was released in 1981, and the second part “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” in 1989.
Ford, 78, recapped his career as an actor in an interview with Parade earlier this year. “I was not an overnight success. I spent 15 years before I had any real, noticeable success,” Ford told Parade in an interview earlier this year. “Persistence is certainly something I think I can credit myself for having.”
As for portraying such a legendary icon, Ford says he feels “obliged to make sure that our efforts are as ambitious as they were when we started.”
