A cartoonist whose work has appeared in The New Yorker since the 1990s has been arrested and charged for possessing child pornography.
Daniel Shanahan, 64, was investigated and then arrested on Wednesday by the New York State Police and Rhinebeck Police Department, the NYSP reported.
He’s been charged with one count of possession of a sexual performance by a child, a charge that is considered a Class E felony. Shanahan is facing a maximum sentence of four years in prison or just probation.
According to New York State Trooper AJ Hicks, the evidence was found on his computer after authorities got a warrant from the Rhinebeck police. And now his case is still being investigated, The Daily Voice reported.
He is scheduled for a hearing before a judge on January 20.
