Last Wednesday, a 29-year-old woman in Georgia was charged with the murder of a 2-year-old girl she babysat.
According to the New York Post, Sandy Springs Police Department arrested Kirstie Flood after an autopsy revealed she died from severe injuries she sustained while under Flood’s care.
The department has not announced how she died.
Two-year-old Fallon Fridley’s mother told WSB-TV that her daughter was “just the light of my life, the love of my life.”
“This girl was gonna be the next president. She was gonna be a doctor,” Kristin Fridley added.
Flood was a close friend and watched the toddler full-time since August. The day Fallon died, the babysitter called Kristin Fridley crying and claimed the little girl hurt herself on a playground slide.
With the help of a warrant, authorities discovered the sitter had recently searched “what type of people enjoy abusing other people’s children” on her phone, as well as “what does it mean to have a sudden urge to beat a child that’s not yours.”
Sadly, the parents had no idea Flood was a threat to the child.
“It’s like this evil was in front of my face for years, and I never saw it,” the mother said.
Flood faces felony murder charges, as well as malice murder, aggravated battery, and cruelty to children. She is being held in Fulton County Jail with no bond.
