A boy and his dog were abandoned in an Ohio cemetery just days before Christmas.

Two days before Christmas, a 3-year-old boy and his dog were abandoned in a cemetery in Ohio, according to police. On Wednesday, officers responded to Hope Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hinkley and found the child, Tony, along with his dog.

According to a witness, a blue car sped out of the cemetery while the little boy and dog were chasing after it, cops documented. Thankfully, the boy has been taken in by a foster home after child services were called. Police say Tony’s father has been “very cooperative.”

An investigation has been launched into the matter. Police said the boy was in the care of his mother when he was abandoned. Cops have retrieved the dog, which was still running loose in the cemetery.

The Hinckley Police Department released a statement on Facebook saying the boy is in good hands but that he could definitely use some Christmas gifts. “Good morning, While the investigation is still ongoing with a lot of questions still unanswered, I want to assure everyone that Tony is doing very well in the loving home of a foster family here in Medina County. His Dad has been very cooperative with us and Children Services in the investigation. I will release further information when I can.

It contained, “I would like to thank everyone for their kindness in wanting to buy Christmas presents for Tony, take him in and adopt him. You all are amazing people and why we have such a great community here in Hinckley, all of Medina County, and beyond. If anyone would like to buy a Christmas present for Tony, we will accept them at Hinckley PD and see that they get to him as soon as possible. He is a typical 3 1/2-year-old little boy and is a size 4T/5T if that helps. God Bless and Merry Christmas! Chief David Centner.”
