Oakland City Thunder’s, Russell Westbrook, underwent a successful facial bone surgery, Saturday.

Westbrook suffered from a fracture in a zygomatic arch bone on his right cheek, after teammate, Andre Roberson, kneed him in the face at the tail end of their game against the Portland Trail Blazers. (On accident, of course.) Now I don’t know exactly what that means, but I know it left a dent on the side of his face which caused for the immediate surgery. The team did, however, announce that it went well, ESPN reports. Westbrook will miss Sunday’s game against the Lakers with D.J. Augustin as his substitute. The injury will be reassessed later next week to determine when he can play again. Yahoo! Sports, Adrian Wojnarowski, informed Twitter earlier that Westbrook won’t be gone for too long and that in fact, he could play through the fracture – if he wanted to. A hand fracture claimed 14 games from the guard back in November.

Even with the odd face fracture, February has been an exceptional month for #0. And the numbers don’t lie. In the same game, Westbrook had his third, consecutive triple-double, scoring 40 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. For the month alone, he’s averaged 31.2 points, 9 rebounds and 10.3 assists. Overall he has averaged 26.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 8.1 assists in 45 games.

OKC has also missed Kevin Durant who will also be re-evaluated after undergoing a “minor procedure” last Sunday. He is expected within the approaching week.
