DC’s top prosecutor revealed on Friday that Donald Trump, his son Don Jr. and Rudy Giuliani could all be investigated and charged for their potential roles in inciting the violence in the U.S. Capitol after Pro-Trump supporters stormed the building.
According to the NY Post, DC Attorney General Karl Racine said in an interview with “Good Morning America” this morning that his office was investigating dozens of rioters and that blame for the violence that occurred could be put on Trump after his speech to supporters encouraged them to march to Congress.
“I think the question is, how far up does it go? Clearly, the Capitol was ground central in all of this mob’s behavior,” Racine told GMA.
“Donald Trump Jr., Giuliani, even the president of the United States, were calling on their supporters and hate groups to go to the Capitol and, in the words of Rudy Giuliani, ‘exercise combat justice,’” Racine explained.
The Department of Justice has also not ruled out bringing charges against Trump once he becomes a private citizen on Jan. 20.
The death toll from Wednesday’s chaotic scene now stands at five people, including a US Capitol Police Officer, who died as a result of the violence after thousands of Trump supporters besieged Congress as lawmakers gathered to confirm Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory.
