An Ohio teacher with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District resigned Thursday after allegedly participating in Wednesday’s riot at the Capitol.
Fox 8 reports that Christine Priola is being investigated by law enforcement over her involvement in the riot. The board accepted her resignation, according to a spokeswoman.
In her resignation letter, Priola mentioned three reasons while she no longer wants to work for the district. She expressed not wanting to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and states she will be “switching paths to expose the global evil of human trafficking and pedophilia.” The third reason listed is that she does “not agree” with her union dues, “which help fund people and groups that support the killing of unborn children.”
CMSD officials condemned the violence at the Capitol and told the publication that they could not comment any further, while the Cleveland Teachers Union released a statement on Friday.
“We are aware of reports of a Cleveland educator who engaged in rioting in the Capitol. We take these allegations very seriously, and if true, they must be held accountable,” union president Shari Obrenski said.
“While we support the right to peaceful protest, what happened inside the Capitol on Wednesday was not a protest; it was an insurrection,” the statement read. “It is the exact opposite of what we teach our students. Anyone who participated must bear the very serious consequences of their actions.”
WKYC reports that the FBI visited Priola’s home on Friday, but she was not facing any criminal charges as of Sunday.
