California Democrat Rep. Linda Sánchez plans to unveil a bill that will ensure that nothing will be named after Trump. The legislation will ban Trump’s name from being placed on everything from airports to park benches.
“I don’t believe that a seditious occupant of the White House should have — ever have anything named after him,” Sánchez told People Magazine on Monday. Trump continues to spread the false ” Stolen Election” narrative to his supporters.
“ I am working on a bill that would mean that nothing — not even a bench, no airport, no highway, no school — nothing — ever bear the name of this traitor,” Sánchez said.
Sánchez was inside the Capitol at the time of the domestic terrorist attack. She hid behind doors barricaded by desks inside of the Rayburn House Office Building. As the riot grew more extensive and more violent, she and her chief of staff held baseball bats for protection. The traumatizing insurrection left the nation at great unease and claimed the lives of Five US citizens. Trump supporters willingly carried out acts of treason in hopes of preventing President-elect Joe Biden‘s Electoral College victory.
“I remember just thinking to myself, ‘I want to live to see my son grow up,’” Sánchez said. Congress refuses to take the treasonous acts lightly.
We Must Hold Trump Accountable
Dallas Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro announced similar legislation. The bill will prevent any federal buildings or property from being named after Trump. Trump incited an insurrection that damaged some of our nation’s most potent and sacred national stuff. Donald Trump should never become a future generation’s confederate symbol.”Castro said.
House Democrats have officially introduced articles of impeachment against Trump. The items will hold him accountable for inciting his supporters to riot. The acts taken against the US Capitol are treason.
“[I]ncited by President Trump, members of the crowd he had addressed, in an attempt to … interfere with the Joint Session’s solemn constitutional duty to certify the results of the 2020 Presidential election, unlawfully breached and vandalized the Capitol, injured and killed law enforcement personnel, menaced Members of Congress, the Vice President, and Congressional personnel, and engaged in other violent, deadly, destructive, and seditious acts,” the impeachment article states.
