COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. have soared once again and hit another one-day record high. The number of deaths in one day topped over 4,300 as the country’s attention is now focused on the fallout from the deadly riots at the Capitol.
According to the Associated Press, Johns Hopkins University is reporting that the US death toll from Covid-19 is now more than 380,000 and is rapidly going to be more than the number of Americans’ deaths in World War II.
The nation’s confirmed cases of infections are now more than 22.8 million, as the country now faces a huge political crisis, and citizens are on edge over threats of more violence from far-right and pro-Trump extremists.
The new daily high of 4,327 deaths on Tuesday, reported by Johns Hopkins count includes many deaths from Arizona and California as though states have been among the hardest-hit.
The daily numbers are subject to revision, but the death toll has been rising sharply over the past 2 1/2 months. Researchers say that the country is now in the most lethal phase of the outbreak yet, even as the government continues to push its toll out of the vaccine.
