Airbnb says it will block and cancel all reservations in the Washington, D.C. area schedule for the week of Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration.
According to the Associated Press, the company’s decision came in response to various local, state, and federal officials advising people not to travel to Washington, D.C. for the inauguration.
This announcement came two days after Airbnb said it was reviewing reservations in the area ahead of the inauguration to root out and bar any guests associated with hate groups or violent activity.
The home-sharing company said any guests whose reservations were canceled would be fully refunded, and they also agreed to reimburse hosts — at Airbnb’s expense. The company also said that any reservations on their HotelTonight website would be canceled and refunded as well.
Airbnb did not reveal how many reservations were have been canceled.
“We are continuing our work to ensure hate group members are not part of the Airbnb community,” the company said on their website.
