A 21 year old aspiring rapper named Rymir says Jay Z is his father, according to reports from NewsOne and the New York Daily News in February 2015. Rymir says he has been asking Jay Z to take a paternity test since 2010.
Rymir says his mother, Wanda, and Jay Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, were involved before Jay Z became famous. Jay Z has not been confirmed as Rymir’s father, and the claim has not been proven.
Court records show the dispute has been in the legal system for years. Rymir filed a civil suit in December 2014 accusing Jay Z of lying in court to avoid a paternity test. A New Jersey judge dismissed the first case for lack of jurisdiction, because Jay Z had said he was a New York resident. A second suit was then filed by Rymir’s legal guardian, who argues Jay Z misstated where he lived and owned homes in New Jersey when the first case was heard.
The reports did not include a statement from Jay Z or his representatives, and the matter remains unresolved. We will keep you posted if there are any new developments.
