U.S. Capitol police arrested a woman on Saturday morning after allegedly impersonating a police officer and claimed to be a part of the president’s cabinet at a security checkpoint in D.C.
According to Fox 5 DC, Federal and local police around the U.S. Capitol are on high alert after the violent riot earlier in the month and anticipation of Joe Biden’s Inauguration Day later this week.
Officers arrested the unidentified woman, who was stopped at a checkpoint at First Street and Columbus Circle, NE around 8:45 a.m. after she presented a military challenge coin and claimed to be a law enforcement officer.
After being questioned by Capitol police, the woman drove off before being stopped again at 50 Massachusetts Avenue. She was arrested and immediately charged with false impersonation of a law enforcement officer, failure to obey an officer, and fleeing a law enforcement officer.
After her arrest, she was taken to a psychiatric center for evaluation before being transported to jail.
