Apple Has Pushed Back Face ID Release On iMac

While Apple’s Face ID has been popular amongst iPhone users, the company says that users will have to wait for Face ID to hit iMac.

“Apple has also developed underlying Mac support for both cellular connectivity — the ability for Macs to connect to the internet via smartphone networks — and Face ID, the company’s facial recognition system,” Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman wrote on Friday. “But neither feature appears to be coming soon. To that end, Face ID had originally been planned to arrive in this year’s iMac redesign, but it’s now unlikely to be included in the first iteration of the new design.”

The feature was made available on iPads in 2018, a year after it’s initial launch. There is no word yet why Apple has pushed back this technology’s release on iMac, which was supposed to be released on the computer’s updated version.  

The new iMacs will bring back the SD card slot for the MacBook Pros, allowing users to insert memory cards from digital cameras, among other upgrades.
