A 65-year-old Connecticut woman was arrested for tagging several locations with graffiti that referenced socialism, President Joe Biden, and the “United States of China.”
WFSB reports that Emily Winters turned herself in last week after a superior court arrest warrant was issued. She is facing the charge of criminal mischief.
On January 12, Winters tagged the walls of a TJ Maxx, the Tunxis Hill Corner Plaza, and on the driveway of the McKinley Elementary School. The graffiti was first reported by a member of the Department of Education the following day.
Investigating officers were able to identify Winters through several tips. She confessed to the crimes when questioned by investigators.
“It’s our continued partnership with our community that allows the successful resolution in many of our cases,” Lt. Antonio Granata said.
Winters is scheduled to appear in court on February 12.
