NBA Planning All-Star Game, Set To Take Place In Atlanta March 7

The NBA is planning an All-Star Game, and a skills competition is set for March 7.

Pandemic or not, the national basketball league is gearing up to make some money. According to Sports Illustrated, the NBA and the Players Association are getting close to coming up with a deal on the 2021 All-Star Game. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the event will be held on March 7 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Story filed to ESPN: The NBA and NBPA are progressing toward an agreement for an All-Star Game on March 7 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, a single-night event that would encompass an Eastern vs. Western Conference game and skills competitions, sources tell ESPN,” Wojnarowski wrote on Twitter.

Before the big event, the league will host a skills competition on the same night, Wojnarowski reports. Right now, no complete details have been released other than the league is currently working on health and safety protocols. The event was originally postponed in August because of Rona, and it was set to be located in Indianapolis. The city will now have to wait its turn to host in 2024.

No players have announced their participation in the game, but the NBA and the union are reportedly “increasingly confident that enough of the league’s top players are willing to participate,” per Wojnarowski. As for Covid-19, the NBA stated it would do daily testing during the All-Star break. Players will also be required to go back to their teams two days before the end of the March 5 through March 10 break period.

“Players are likely to be made to return team market two days prior to the end of the March 5-10 break; sources tell ESPN. Daily testing will be required during All-Star break too,” Wojnarowski.
