Despite questions over who visited the White House leading up to the insurrection at the Capitol, the Biden administration cannot release Donald Trump’s visitor logs.
When asked by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that no information would be revealed about who visited the previous administration.
“We cannot. That is under the purview of the National Archives, so I’d certainly point you to there,” Psaki said on Wednesday in response to a follow-up question.
The National Archives Public and Media Communications issued a statement saying that Freedom of Information Act requests regarding the Trump administration records will be accepted as of January 20, 2026. The Presidential Records Act does not allow public access requests to five years after a president’s term ends.
The law does provide for the records to be released by special request for review by lawmakers and law enforcement on an as-needed basis. There are established procedures in place for Congress, courts, and subsequent administrations to obtain “special access” to records that are not available to the public.
Business Insider reported last month that Trump chose seven aides to handle information requests.
Some of the White House visitors spotted include attorney Sidney Powell, Mike Flynn, and MyPillow exec Mike Lindell.
